Ehrlich endorsed Jacobs
Former Governor Bob Ehrlich has endorsed Senator Nancy Jacobs for Congress in Maryland's second Congressional district. WBAL is reporting:
Former Gov. Bob Ehrlich has thrown his support behind Republican state Sen. Nancy Jacobs in her bid for Congress.
Jacobs announced Monday that Ehrlich had decided to endorse her.
"She's the kind of competitor taxpayers need to shake up Congress," the former governor said of Jacobs in a statement.
Jacobs officially threw her hat in the ring earlier this month, challenging Democratic Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger for his 2nd District seat in November.
This is a good get for Jacobs. Ehrlich is a big time endorsement that I'm sure other candidates were hoping for. In 2008, Ehrlich endorsed Andy Harris in MD-01 over incumbent Wayne Gilchrest. Harris won the primary, lost the general. Harris won in 2010.
Also running are former Lt Colonel and Harris aide Larry Smith and Delegate Rick Impallaria.
Bongino Endorsed by Rutledge
Dan Bongino just received the endorsement from 2010 US Senate candidate Jim Rutledge. Rutledge, who never held public office before, ran a fiery primary campaign in 2010 against Eric Wargotz coming in a close second place in the statewide primary that year. I supported Rutledge in the primary (see my interview here), so it's great to see him come out for the candidate that I also support in 2012. Here's the transcript from the presser:
Jim Rutledge, former U.S. Senate candidate, has officially endorsed Dan Bongino, candidate for U.S. Senate in Maryland.
"Dan Bongino will bring to the U.S. Senate what has been seriously lacking for some time in Maryland; a person that can truly relate to and speak for the average Maryland family," said Jim Rutledge. "Dan has an impressive life story and an accomplished record on the front line of law enforcement rising from the ranks of the NYPD to the Secret Service. Washington is awash with a culture of corruption. Dan Bongino is a man of courage and integrity. Dan Bongino knows that jobs, opportunity, and prosperity can only thrive in a free-market economy. We need a new beginning here in Maryland and that will start when we elect Dan Bongino. "
A former U.S. Senate candidate, Jim Rutledge is a partner with the Baltimore County law firm of Rutledge & Aitken, with over 25 years of legal experience representing Maryland's small businesses, average citizens, and farmers. Jim Rutledge is an advocate for constitutionally limited government and for the protection of American sovereignty, private property, free market capitalism, the rule of law, and the defense of our unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. A respected member of his community, Jim Rutledge currently resides in Harford County with his wife, Kim, where they raised their two children.
"It is an honor to receive Mr. Rutledge's endorsement. He has spent his career striving to bring about better government and providing a voice for those fighting against the powerful establishment," said Bongino. "As U.S. Senator, I will bring that fight. I will work to ensure that our federal government becomes more responsive to the needs of the people of Maryland."
Dan Bongino, a devoted husband and father, served in the United States Secret Service for more than a decade, in which he was assigned to the elite Presidential Protection Division. He represented the U.S. as a lead government security official in over 25 countries. Holding graduate degrees in Business Administration and Psychology, Dan has gone on to start several successful businesses in Maryland. As an entrepreneur, he understands that it will be small businesses and consumer confidence that will reinvigorate the economy; not a tax and spend mentality from big government.

Bongino endorsed by Mike Lee
US Senate candidate Dan Bongino has been endorsed by conservative hero and US Senator Mike Lee (R-UT). Here's the press release:
U.S. Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) announced today his endorsement of former United States Secret Service Agent Dan Bongino for U.S. Senate in Maryland.
"We can no longer afford the status quo," said Senator Mike Lee. "New people like Dan are truly needed to change the way Washington operates and stop the out-of-control spending and federal policies that stifle economic growth and job creation."
"As a party and as a movement, we must believe in the right candidate, someone with an unquestionable passion and a deep conviction that will transcend any political persuasion. I see those qualities in Dan and can't help but want to be part of his exciting campaign."
Dan Bongino served for over a decade in the United States Secret Service. While serving, he was a member of the elite Presidential Protection Division and represented the United States as a lead government security official in over 25 countries. Before leaving the service, Dan led an investigation that broke one of the largest fraud rings in Maryland's history. He holds graduate degrees in Business Administration and Neuropsychology. Dan lives in Severna Park, MD with his wife, Paula, and their daughter, Isabel. The family is expecting their second child early next year.
"I am both humbled and grateful for this endorsement," said Bongino. "Senator Lee and I share that the best government is a limited government; the best tax code is a fair tax code; and the best future for our country is a future that is not wasted or squandered by out-of-touch career politicians."
Elected to the U.S. Senate in 2010, Sen. Mike Lee has defended the nation's constitutional principles as general counsel to Utah's Governor, an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Salt Lake City, and a clerk in the U.S. Supreme Court. Sen. Lee and his wife, Sharon, live in Alpine, Utah with their three children.
